The name Shirin David is very well known, especially among the younger generation. The Hamburg native was born with the name Barbara Shirin Davidavičius on April 11, 1995. On her mother's side, she has roots in Lithuania and her father comes from Iran.

Today she is known as a German rapper, singer, and web video producer. She started her career on the web with a few funny videos on YouTube. Today she is one of the first YouTubers in Germany with several million subscribers. When the pretty blonde then took off with her music career in addition to the comedy videos, things only went uphill for the young girl.

After she was born in Hamburg, her parents moved to Lithuania, her mother's homeland, for a few years. So little Shirin spent her first years there. After a few years, the family moved back to Hamburg. Shirin found her love for music at an early age and started playing the piano, violin, and oboe. At the same time, she took dance lessons at the well-known Hamburg Ballet School. Besides dancing and playing instruments, Shirin found out through her own experimentation that she has a fantastic voice. She trained at the Youth Opera Academy in singing, acting, and dancing.

Then in 2014, she opened a video on YouTube for the first time under the name "Shirin David" and inspired many young girls and boys with her humorous manner. She is in the top 50 ranking of the most subscribed channels in Germany with over 2.6 million subscribers.

A year later, she reached the top 10 of the Austrian single charts with her singing together with singer Ado Kojo. The single "Du liebst mich nicht" is a cover version of the song of the same name by Sabrina Setlur and today already has over 48 million views on YouTube.

Shirin was already one of the most successful celebrities in Germany at the time and was allowed to be a juror in the 14th season of the popular show "Deutschland Sucht den Superstar" in 2017. This was a great honor for her, as she had already enjoyed watching the show as a child and was now allowed to be a part of it herself.

Shirin David started her own independent singing career in 2019 with her debut album "Supersize". With this album, she wrote German rap history; she was the first solo female rapper to make it to the top of the German charts.

Her second single "Gib ihm" reached number one in the German single charts again! With many other songs like "Ice", "Fliegst du mit" or "Nur mit dir" together with Xavier Naidoo reached number one in the German album charts. However, the song "Nur mit dir" was removed after criticism on all platforms, as Xavier Naidoo had attracted attention in the past with right-wing populist and conspiracy-theory statements.

Shirin David made it to number one in the German album charts with her album as the first hip-hop musician in all of Germany! Also other singles like "09-60-111" which was released in 2020 became the number one single in Germany. Her third number-one single in Germany she achieved with the hit "Ich darf das" which she released on May 14, 2021, with her second album "Bitches brauchen Rap". Only two months later came the next number-one hit "Lieben wir". In October 2021, her fifth number-one single "Hoe/Break a Hoe" was released in Germany, which she produced together with the German rapper Kitty Kat.

Her provocative and direct lyrics represent a positioning against sexism in the rap scene, which is largely dominated by men. In an interview with the business magazine Capital, she commented on her motivation to make music; "If I can be a role model and achieve that young girls feel more comfortable, braver and stronger, then that makes me proud." Then in November 2019, Shirin David received a Bambi in the Shooting Star category, as she must have had a very special feel for young people's content.

Shirin used her reach to her advantage to build several independent stands and enter the business world. For example, in April 2017, she collaborated with Douglas and released an exclusive perfume called "Created by Shirin." In 2021, the then-26-year-old had another big success by launching her own iced tea "Dirtea". In this project, she cooperated with the beverage marketer Drinks&More, a subsidiary of Krombacher. The iced tea was very well received by the younger generation. In no time at all, the sweet drink could be found in every kiosk and supermarket. In the beginning, there were four different varieties and an alcoholic variant.

The best-known variety is probably still "Wet Peach", the first flavor. Over time, several flavors were added. Recently, there is even a Dirtea variety that contains caffeine and carbon dioxide and appeals to all energy drink lovers. The latest flavors go in a very exotic direction; "Ice Cactus" and "Juicy Mango Coconut".

The musician is also very active on Instagram. There she regularly posts pictures in spectacular outfits, glimpses behind the scenes, or announcements about new Dirtea launches. Here you can see very clearly how often she changes her look. The constant changes in her hair color, or length, have almost become her trademark. Through her story, she takes her fans with her every day and shows, for example, insights into her exciting everyday life or posts great photos from her vacation. She is also very committed to the critical situation in Iran, her second home. On Instagram, she has now built up a community of over six million followers. In the past, her family often had money problems; today, Shirin is independent and earns large sums from various sources of income. A very unique and inspiring path.
