Lewis Hamilton, the greatest Formula 1 driver in history?

Every Formula 1 and racing driver fan has heard the name Lewis Hamilton before. Lewis Hamilton is one of the best racing drivers the world has ever seen. The Briton with the starting number 44 is known for his many records and victories and inspires Formula 1 fans again and again.

Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton was born on January 7th, 1985 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. His parents divorced when he was only two years old. He lived with his mother, stepfather, and two half-sisters for the first twelve years of his life before moving in with his father and his new wife. Today he lives in Monte Carlo.

He started karting at the early age of eight, where he progressed through many different categories. He did Cadet, Junior Yamaha, Junior Intercontinental A, Intercontinental A, and Formula A. In 2000 he was even named a "Rising Star" by the British Racing Drivers Club.

In 1998 Lewis was accepted into the support program of the McLaren Formula 1 racing team. At just ten years old, he asked Ron Dennis, then team boss of the McLaren Formula 1 racing team, for an autograph and told him that one day he would like to drive for McLaren himself.

After winning the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2005 and the GP2 Series in 2006, Lewis officially competed in Formula 1 for McLaren in 2007, making his dream come true. Lewis Hamilton was runner-up right away in the first year and was even the youngest Formula 1 world champion at the time in 2008.

In 2013, the professional racing driver then switched to Mercedes and won many races there. The Briton was world champion in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 together with Mercedes. A total of seven times! Along with Michael Schumacher and his seven titles, Lewis Hamilton is a world record champion. In addition, the 37-year-old holds the records for the most victories, podiums, pole positions, world championship points collected, and the most lead laps and lead kilometers.

At the end of 2020, shortly after Lewis lost the world championship in Abu Dhabi just behind Max Verstappen, a big ceremony awaited him in his home country, which could not take place earlier due to the corona pandemic; he was knighted on December 31st at Windsor Castle by the heir to the throne Prince Charles! The accolade is a very grand and extremely rare gesture in the world of sports - only the best receive this honor.

Already twelve years earlier, after his first, glorious victory as world champion in 2008, he received a knightly order; In 2009 he was personally appointed a member of the "Order of the British Empire" by the English Queen Elizabeth II, which is the precursor to the appointed knight.

Lewis is not only a talented racing driver but also a great role model for many fans and spectators. He has been vegan for over five years. He wants to do his bit for environmental protection and to set an example that athletes can also live vegan. On Instagram, he repeatedly draws attention to his diet with the intention of motivating other athletes to make a change.

Hamilton is also very fond of animals and is committed to animal welfare. In 2020, he donated half a million dollars to UNICEF to support firefighters and volunteers in Australia's bushfires. He also speaks out against the trade in shark fins and would like to draw attention to this problematic topic. At home, the 37-year-old has two bulldogs waiting for him.

Another aspect that makes Lewis Hamilton a great role model is that he is also committed to political and social issues. He uses his Instagram page, which now has 27.5 million followers, to support charities. For example, he collects donations there or simply informs his followers about certain topics and how they can help. He sets an example and influences our society for the better. The topic of racism in particular makes Lewis Hamilton very sad and occupies him almost every day. After the tragic death of George Floyd, he criticized everyday racism around the world.

In an interview, Lewis Hamilton explained how he struggled with racism himself as a child. In physical education, little Hamilton was always chosen last because of his darker skin color. Luckily that didn't drag him down but gave him exactly the motivation to become as successful as he is today. He also founded the "Hamilton Commission", which aims to support dark-skinned racing drivers in British motorsport.

The Formula 1 driver also spoke out against the current war in Ukraine. There was confusion at first because he wasn't in the photo showing the other racers standing in front of a Ukrainian flag, showing their support. Lewis Hamilton later explained on his Instagram story that his flight was delayed and he was, therefore, unable to attend.

He also regularly posts pictures of his races and behind-the-scenes insights on Instagram for his many fans. He seems to have a passion for traveling as you can always see pictures of him in different exotic places.

Not much is officially known about the racing driver's dating life. There are currently rumors that he is dating influencer Camila Kendra. However, nothing has been confirmed by them. In the past, since breaking up with his longtime girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger in 2015, he has been spotted off and on with beautiful models, singers, and other celebrities. For example, he is said to have dated Barbara Palvin, Kendall Jenner, Rhianna, Nicki Minaj, and Rita Ora.

In order to be able to establish direct contact with the Formula 1 world champion, Hamilton fans would certainly be happy if he could soon be reached on Bloggercube.
